Hello!

I'm happy to be joining you all on this forum.

I've been watching wuxia drama series since I was a little girl in the 90's. Even if I couldn't remember seeing the series from the 80's, I still knew of them because they were from my parents' time. Some of my favourite actors from that time were of course people like Andy Lau, Tony Leung, Adam Cheng, Idy Chan, and Michael Miu. In the 90's, my favourite actors were Ekin Cheng, Frankie Lam, Aaron Kwok, Dicky Cheung, Louis Koo, Julian Cheung, and Roger Kwok. Fast forward to the 2000's and my favourite TVB actors were Raymond Lam, Kenneth Ma, Sammul Chan, Charmaine Sheh, Selena Lee, Linda Chung, and Fala Chen. I regret to say that I don't know any of the younger generation of TVB actors because in the 2010's I stopped watching new drama series. Life and kids, you know?

More recently, because of a new wave of Jin Yong stories being adapted for television, I've started watching wuxia again. Most were bad, but some were special. For example, I tried watching Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils 2013 but it was laughably bad. It didn't hold my interest and I didn't feel for the characters so I stopped at 1/5 of the way.  Despite the bad casting of the female lead, the terrible CGI, and the unnecessary additions of love stories, I thoroughly enjoyed Romance of the Condor Heroes 2014! I thought the actors gave it their all and the main lead is quite handsome as Yang Guo. Legend of the Condor Heroes 2017 is really what reignited my love for wuxia. I'd loved the 1983 and the 1994 versions with their respective leads (Julian Cheung's dimples stole my heart), but it had been so long since an adaptation was good. I never cared for the 2003 and the 2008 versions. Finally, in the 2017 version, I had found a new adaptation for the next gen (or my husband in this case) that I could be proud of!

After that, there was news that Condor Heroes novels were finally being translated into English! I quickly bought the first book 2 years ago, then the second book earlier this year. Now I'm anxiously awaiting the final two books for Guo Jing's story. The same publisher and translator is going to complete the whole trilogy! One book at a time, one per year. Naturally, I couldn't wait that long to read the rest of the condor trilogy so I began reading the fan translations provided by WuxiaSociety.com. I skipped Legend of the Condor Heroes (as I wanted to wait for the official book translations) and went straight to reading Return of the Condor Heroes and Heavenly Sword and Dragon Sabre. I actually finished HSDS novel in tandem with the 2019 drama while waiting for episodes to be released. The 2019 Heavenly Sword and Dragon Slaying Sabre is also a version that has become my favourite next to Tony Leung's version.

I'm currently reading Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils novel on WuxiaSociety.com while waiting for new dramas to be released. I'm eager for the new Return of the Condor Heroes 2019 that might be released at the end of this year, as well as the Handsome Siblings 2019. I also read rumours that Flying Fox of the Snowy Mountain is getting a remake. This is an exciting time to be a fan of wuxia!

If anyone has recommendations for a wuxia novel that I haven't read yet, please feel free to share with me! Of course, I would need it to be in English.

This has been a long introduction. I hope to get along with everyone here as we share our continuing love for all things wuxia. With patience, this forum would grow bigger as more people join. Have a wonderful day!
